Mobile Crane Space Requirements

NCCER requires the facility where the Mobile Crane Practical Examinations are conducted to meet all the following space and location standards:

  • Unobstructed space to perform all practical tasks
  • Ground level topography beneath the crane is within 1% to 2%
  • Ground compaction is adequate for the crane type
  • Crane is kept 1.5 times the required distance from energized power lines at all times


Mobile Crane Equipment Requirements

NCCER requires the Accredited Assessment Center organization to have the following equipment in possession prior to conducting any Mobile Crane Practical Examinations:

  • ANSI-approved safety glasses, hard hat, high-visibility vests and hearing protection
  • Twenty-four 12-inch or 18-inch tall traffic cones
  • Three #2 pencils
  • One pencil sharpener
  • Two 150-foot tape measures (or equivalent)
  • One stopwatch
  • One 2-foot carpenter's level
  • Five 36-inch tall traffic cones
  • One clipboard (optional)
  • A means to lay out 30-inch circles
  • Three 5-gallon buckets
  • 1-inch shackle
  • 48-inch synthetic web sling


Compliance Attestation

NCCER requires the Accredited Assessment Center Primary Administrator to attest that all space and equipment information is true, and that the Accredited Assessment Center Primary Administrator has read and agrees to abide by the conditions set forth in the NCCER Accreditation Guidelines Program Compliance, and the applicable Certification Program Procedure Manual. Additionally, the Accredited Assessment Center Primary Administrator understands that this program will be subjected to periodic audits.
